what are the rewards for not being a witness any longer
by Curtains inif the carrot and stick aspect of being jehovahs witnesses upset you how do you reclaim your desire for reward?
i'm assumng that you all agree with me that feeling rewarded is a basic human desire.
how much effort do you think we should put into trying to make our lives rewarding?

I don't know exactly what you mean by the carrot and the stick.
I had no privileges in the congregation for about 20 years. I refused them. (admittedly i engaged in field service and the occasional answer at the meeting along with being on the School when I felt like it, maybe these were privileges or rewards of a sort although I never viewed them as such more a freedom to speak of my beliefs)
The view of surviving Armageddon into a paradise earth never felt like anymore than drawing another breath does. It was just going to be if I was judged worthy if not it wasnt going to be.
Since leaving I have felt less stressed. As I had identified the FDS class as giving out the food at the proper time. These were identified in my mind as Christ's brothers. How I treated them and what they said was as if I had treated Christ in like manner. Therefore it was very difficult to refuse privileges for 20 years without stress. It was as if I said no to Christ. Maybe leaving and losing the stress is a reward.
I still believe in Christianity and will talk about Christ with people I meet at various times, no pressure to adhere to schedule. The reward of which is mentioned in the bible I still hope for. I also think it is questionable as to whether JW's will recieve any reward from God however we hope.

A Concerned Elder Speaks
by Franklin Massey ina lot of talk has centered around information dispensed at the recent km schools.
many brothers feel there is a "tightening up" taking place.
i had a recent experience that you may find interesting.. after the meeting i was working with our cobe on some congregation tasks when out of nowhere he said, "have you looked up any extra information about higher education since the km school?

lol. Your right.
I really don't like alot of what the JW's teach. I suppose I was thinking that they believe in God, the bible, good morals, etc. But these things are not unique to JW's.
I think it was just more comfortable for me to stay as a JW. It had been my way of life. The trouble was that in not agreeing with things. The organization made it more uncomfortable for me to stay. They wanted me to join in and support the field service, something I could no longer do with a good conscience. When I explained my reasoning and questions, it led to the few friends we had disappearing.

after 40 years I guess I am being shunned
by Giordano inwell thanks to this site i have come to realize i am being shunned........i think.
i find this really funny because my wife and i were never df or da, and we walked out in the late 1960's.
and no one in the family ever shunned us.. without making too much out of it my niece has not invited us to visit and meet our new nephew.

commenting on your quote from the Feb 15 2011 Watchtower
"However, you
are also showing that you love the wrongdoer
enough to do what is best for him or
her"When my brother was disfellowshipped my mother felt the need to shun him to the point she would not speak to him on the phone. He was very distressed and there was concern for his health.
This was not what was best for him.
My father had to speak with the Elders and try to persaude them to speak with my brother to help with his mental anguish. They were reluctant to do so.
my brother saw how he was treated and although he became reinstated he never attended another meeting. He experienced the "love" of the brothers and he didnt need it.

Last night I dreamt I died whilst on JWN.
i was having palpitations the sort that jolt you awake and i dreamt i was posting on JWN when I was electrocuted I was stuck to the keyboard dying. It was one of those super realisic dreams. I thought of the people I couldn't say good bye too. My daughter was dying in the kitchen in my view. Then someone shut the power off and I came alive.
Maybe i shouldn't post on here.

"Lets say that they love 99% of what the religion has to offer, but just don't know of the end is really so near."
I like alot of what JW's teach. When I first had a problem with the teaching I felt I could stay. I told my father in law, "No i wouldnt leave it" A couple of years later I had the elders visit me (long story) I offered them the opportunity to disfellowship me. The wiser of the two said "No need" However as much as I wanted to stay I couldn't.
I have been back and tried again but I cannot go against my conscience. It's not a case of waiting on Jehovah, it's whether my health would allow me to compromise my conscience my believes.
99% is not what is required. It's 100%.
